# instancez

> instancez is the backend for developers and agents: a developer- and LLM-friendly drop-in replacement for Supabase. Your coding agent builds the backend from Cursor or Claude Code (auth, database schema, row-level permissions, storage and server functions) and deploys it. It is a single Go binary, wire-compatible with @supabase/supabase-js, open source under Apache-2.0, and self-hostable.

- One line to connect: `claude mcp add instancez --transport http https://my.instancez.ai/mcp`
- Self-host CLI: `curl -fsSL https://get.instancez.ai | sh` (macOS/Linux). Self-hosting runs against your own Postgres (INSTANCEZ_DATABASE_URL); hosted plans include the database.
- Supabase-compatible: existing `@supabase/supabase-js` calls, filters, embedded queries, aggregates and RPCs work against a new URL and key, no application changes.
- You own it: schema, security policies and functions are plain YAML and JavaScript you can commit to your own repo; the runtime is open source, so leaving means running it yourself, not losing your app.
- Readable config: the whole backend is one instancez.yaml, so every change is a diff you can review, commit and re-apply.
- Privacy: no training on your data or prompts; each app gets its own Postgres database and roles, encrypted in transit and at rest.
